Current Progress

Work Accomplished to June 30, 2008:

· Structural steel erection is complete. Misc Metals, hand rails in progress

• M&E work is continuing in the parkade, on the main floor, and at upper floor.

• Masonry block work is complete in the gym and youth area and has commenced in the main

floor washrooms area. Hollow-metal door and window frames are being installed in block work

as required.

• Spray fireproofing is substantially complete.

• Insulated metal panels are installed on vertical faces, soffits to be completed.

• Steel stud is complete in L1 and L2. Boarding and taping underway in L1 Admin/ Daycare area.

Project Description

The Community Recreation Center will add 58,000SF of recreational facility space to the growing community of Abbotsford. It is adjacent to the existing Abbotsford Recreation Centre/Swimming Pool, and will tie in architecturally while adding much needed parking space to the community complex.

It will provide additional gymnasiums, workout areas, senior, youth and children programming areas, as well as an elevated indoor running track. The building utilizes a Geothermal Well system to augment the heating/cooling to lower the Owner's operating costs. The exterior envelope uses Clayburn brick, which is produced near the historic Clayburn Factory nearby, thus adding value to Abbotsford's local economy.
